Policy against plagiarism and research misconduct

The Texto Livre journal develops its work in accordance with the ethical principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), the Code of Ethics American Educational Research Association, the Code of Scientific Good Practices – FAPESP and the Council of Science Editors (CSE) in relation to to publication.

To promote research integrity, strengthening and transparency in the process, all published material complies with the Best Practices Guide for Strengthening Ethics in Scientific Publication and the Open Science Compliance Form.

Texto Livre journal adopts as a definition of misconduct that indicated by the "Office Research Integraty - ORI", which consists of:

• Fabrication: inventing data or results by recording or reporting them.

• Falsification: Manipulating research materials, equipment, or processes, or altering or omitting data or results, so that the research is not accurately represented in the research record.

• Plagiarism: consists of appropriating another person's ideas, processes, results or words without giving proper credit.

Articles submitted for evaluation will undergo a technical review for plagiarism analysis on the Check For Plagiarism platform. The editorial team checks the data. In the case of plagiarism, a paragraph without proper citation is enough for the article to be returned to the author, indicating the problem. In the case of self-plagiarism, the maximum allowed is 10% of the text for articles or 50% when it is the result of a master's dissertation or doctoral thesis. Above that, the article is returned, indicating the problem, and the authors can make the necessary changes and submit the article again to the Journal.

Cases of plagiarism reported to the Journal after the publication of the articles will be analyzed by the Editorial Committee and, in the event of confirmation of the complaint, the article will be removed from the Journal immediately. Penalties may also apply to authors.

It is understood that "Research Misconduct" does not include honest errors or differences of opinion, and Authors are subject to sanctions established by the Editorial Board when actions relevant to the concept presented here are detected.

In cases of Duplicate and Redundant Publication, Correction and Retractions, Texto Livre adopts the publication of original material, which has not been previously published or is being reviewed in other journals, even if in other languages.

Articles submitted to Texto Livre cannot be submitted to any other journal while being evaluated in Texto Livre. Duplicate publication is understood to be the practice of submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal. Redundant publication is one that implies inappropriate division of the study results in more than one article. If this case is detected, it will result in the rejection of the article or its retraction, being the Authors subject to the sanctions established by the Editorial Board.

In case of corrections and retractions, involving errors or failures, regardless of nature or origin, and that do not imply "Misconduct in publication", they may be corrected through an errata. In case of already published manuscripts in which "Publication misconduct" is identified, they will be retracted through exposition of the reason, in which case authors and co-authors must agree with the content.

Research related to humans and animals must be accompanied by a copy of approval from the ethics committee.
