Wilhelm Busch, translatability of poetry,Abstract
Based on the comments about the Brazilian Portuguese translation of three German poems by Wilhelm Busch, this article argues in favor of the translatability of poetry. Weininger’s (2012) problematization of the traditional notion of equivalence in translations provides the basis for the theoretical framework of this study. As a methodological scaffold used to address the translation challenges in question, this study makes use of Beaugrande’s (2007) notions of “convergence” and “coincidence” defended by Weininger’s.
