Evaluation of shear bond strength of different adhesives system to human enamel

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to compare the shear bond strength of different adhesive systems to human enamel by analyzing the fracture mode. Forty human teeth half-crowns were placed in PVC tubes with acrylic resin, with one superficial plane of dental enamel exposed. All specimens were divided into four groups: G1 - Single Bond® (3M ESPE); G2 – Primer & Bond 2.1® (Dentsply); G3

– Magic Bond® (Vigodent); G4 – Master Bond® (Biodinâmica). Using a cylindrical plastic piece, a resin cylinder of 4.2mm in diameter was constructed, and its ungluing was performed using a Kratos Machine at a speed of 1mm/min. The data were submitted to the Kruskal-Wallis test (p<0.05) and showed no statistically significant differences among the groups. In the analysis of the fracture type, the adhesive fracture mode was most commonly found in the composite/adhesive interface.
