THE DEVELOPMENT OF ACADEMIC COMPETENCES IN HIGHER EDUCATION: THE TEACHING PRACTICE IN FOCUS

The article characterizes the social representations about the development of academic
competences in higher education and the reflexes in pedagogical practices. Twelve teachers from an institution of
the Federal District were interviewed, and the analyzes, by IRaMuTeQ software generated three classes: (a) focus
on the task (technologist); (b) formative role of the educator (licentiate degree) and (c) practices directed to the
development of the student (bachelor degree). The results showed that the teachers develop their practices
considering their professional habitat, portraying actions of the future work activity to the accomplishment and
operationalization of the tasks (technologist); in the licentiate, articulation between knowledge, values and ethical
action in the humanize formative process; and in the bachelor degree, construction of knowledge by the students,
involving professional performance. The social representations highlight the diversity of practices based on the
areas of teaching, revealing nearby worlds and in connection with future labor activity.
