Abstract

ABSTRACT

A new generation of museums is being built in the field of environmental architecture - museums based on the NZEBs concept, with nearly zero energy building consumption annual balance.

Museum projects have already shown results in reducing energy consumption, using new technologies, bioclimatic interventions and passivhaus. Although the application of energy efficiency concepts in museum architecture is common in several countries, in Brazil it is still a challenge to be overcome. In terms of energy efficiency in museums adapted in historic buildings, this practice has not yet been implemented here. However, a new stage appears - museums that also generate clean and renewable energy for their consumption, and can also use energy from the existing distribution network. This perspective of creating efficient historic buildings intends to optimize maintenance resources of adapted museums.

This article aims to discuss the feasibility of the NZEBs concept for the future of Brazilian museums adapted in historic buildings, in order to create a sustainable and dynamic infrastructure.
