Abstract

This article deals with some concepts and meanings of gesture in music. Based on the definition of some aspects that integrate gesture in musical performance as well as on the semiotic perspective of Charles Sanders PEIRCE (2000), we offer, according to our own perceptions, a qualitative observation of the gestural performances of the musicians that form the Grupo UAKTI in order to understand their possible meanings. We reflect on the function and importance of gesture in musical performance and its implication for the pedagogy of the instruments.
