The creation of norms for the proper pronunciation of sung Portuguese was one of the results of the First Congress of the National Sung Language in 1937, but they never were officially revised. During a Congress in 1956, Brazilian actors determined their own version of the norms for Portuguese spoken in the theater which served, in large part, as a first revision of the Norms published in 1938. Em 2005, during the 4th Encounter of Brazilian Song, new norms were voted on, yet to be published. This article seeks to compare and contrast the two documents from 1938 and 1958 with the sugestions for norms from 2005.
