Abstract

This article discusses the concepts of indeterminacy, aleatory and improvisation found in the music from the second half of the twentieth century. In the analysis of Canção Simples de Tambor by Carlos Stasi, it was possible to verify and exemplify how these concepts can be used as true compositional resources.

  • Fernando Rocha , Federal University of Minas Gerais

    is a percussion professor at the School of Music at UFMG. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Percussion from the Institute of Arts at UNESP and completed his Master's in Music at UFMG in 2001, with the research "Improvisation in Indeterminate Music: analysis and performance of three Brazilian works for percussion."
