Musical Performance: reviewing technique from a methodological approach is a research project I'm currently working on at the School of Music and Drama of the Federal University of Goiás Graduate Program. The research aims at reviewing and mapping the literature on musical performance most used in Brazilian universities, emphasizing the EMPs-Elements of Musical Performance and informal methodological approaches adopted by performer educadors. This is an attempt to select and organize procedures that can be used along with the available literature for Brazilian performers, particularly for string players. This article presents one of theses procedures: the Phases Warm-up Exercises by Dr. Diana Gannett, Professor of Double Bass at University of Michigan. The exercises are presented not only as an option for warm-up extended to all orchestral string instruments, but also as a path to increase the musician's awareness of the interaction involved in technical studies and many other aspects required in a musical performance.
