This article invites to a debate about a possible interpretation of the work Inspiratio, for guitar and piano, by Brazilian composer Frederico Richter (b.1932), using as point of departure the performance practice parameters discussed by DUFFIN (1995) in his article “Performance Practice: Que me veux-tu? What do you want from me?” published in Early Music America. The discussion about these parameters, although originally intended for early music performance, can make possible the adoption of a coherent musical speech in the performance of a contemporary work or a work from any other historical period.
