A Física como uma construção cultural arbitrária: Um exemplo da controvérsia sobre o status ontológico das forças inerciais

Este artigo parte do conceito de arbitrário cultural da sociologia da educação de Pierre Bourdieu para argumentar que a Física é uma construção cultural arbitrária. A título de exemplo, apresenta-se uma análise crítica do status ontológico atribuído às forças inerciais na mecânica newtoniana sob a perspectiva da mecânica relacional de Ernst Mach e André Assis. Os motivos que orientaram a escolha desse tema para caracterizar o arbitrário da Física são dois. Em primeiro lugar, reconhecer o grau de arbitrário das teorias mais hegemônicas em ciência nos coloca muito próximos de reconhecer o arbitrário da ciência como um todo. Em segundo lugar, dentre as críticas historicamente consagradas que são dirigidas à mecânica Newtoniana, o questionamento do status ontológico das forças inerciais pode ser considerado um tema bastante próximo das discussões tipicamente realizadas em aulas de Física. Assim, a escolha desse tema nos permitirá introduzir e defender a pertinência do conceito de arbitrário cultural tanto no nível mais abstrato de uma teoria sociológica do conhecimento quanto do trabalho concreto em sala de aula. Ao final dessa digressão, considerações a respeito da produção de currículos e livros didáticos para a educação científica são apresentadas.
