Abstract

Performer is a text that, for various reasons, occupies a very particular place in Grotowski's work: perhaps because it is the last document of the master and has been sculpted, for that reason, word of the word, or because, this time,   the   master   is   not   limited   to   speak   of   something   that   he   has experienced, but he delineates a kind of ideal, or, moreover, because its content  concerns  not  only  a  possible becoming of  the actor  and  the theater,   but   proposes   a   reflection,   in   a   sense   "final",   about   the potentialities peculiar to the human condition, potentialities that can be completely developed with the aid of the performative art, here carefully redefined. This comment was first published in 2006 and then on other occasions and contexts. Here is proposed a rereading that adds some clarifications and quotes. The reference text - Performer - is that elaborated by the curators of the Works of Jerzy Grotowski, until then edited in Poland and Italy.
