This paper seeks to analyze how the art exhibition Nakoada: estratégias para a arte moderna employs the theme of “revenge” as a way of articulating indigenous cosmology and history to counter the form of human historical agency that has led the planet into the climate and social crisis we may refer to as the “falling sky”or the Anthropocene. More specifically, it aims to understand how the curators, Denilson Baniwa and Beatriz Lemos, assert a historical agency guided by an attitude of careandcautionwhich, in contrastto the accelerated temporal conduct that would guide modern Western art, seeks to reclaim the museum as a site capable of resisting the growing pressure for temporal acceleration in contemporary societies.
