The present study focuses the curricula evolution resulting from restructures and changes made by law, related with training in conservation and restoration, taught at the Institu-toPolitécnico de Tomar (IPT), over nearly 25 years. It intends to contribute to the reflection on the present and future of the academic training in this area, particularly the strategies that have been adopted for acquiring knowledge, skills and competences necessary for the best practice in conservation, and without losing sight on the experience and the principles that were enrolled in fundamental documents of national and international organizations that are directly or indirectly related to the profession of the conservator-restaurator.In this context, the relationships that were strengthened with our public and private partners are fundamental to the teaching model that has been followed, since they allow the development of each student intentions to enhance a specialization and the necessary practice, for competent performance in conservation and restoration.
