Abstract

This article analyzes the reforms and actions of the military in the educational field during the Civil-Military Dictatorship (1964-1985), focusing on their repercussions in EEM Joaquim Magalhães, in Itapipoca-CE. In this study, a parallel is drawn between the moralizing character of teaching, the creation of Civic Centers and the use of civics in the 60s, 70s and 80s, a period in which it was used by the military to combat “subversion” and promote “progress” in the country. However, despite all the efforts of the military, this educational model demonstrate the contradictions of dictatorial regime in schoolar context, especially in the Civic Centers, as they are political bodies, at a time of democratic opening in Brazil.
