Call for 2026 dossier
Generative Artificial Intelligence –GAI– and algorithms have been increasingly present in our lives. This ubiquity has generated tensions, doubts regarding its impact on human life, social relations, the dissemination of information and misinformation – Fake News – which interfere in our actions and representations and, consequently, in the democratic life. On the other hand, individual and collective movements build resistance to the indiscriminate use of algorithms to replace workers and relations with national states and the private sector.
Thus, from carrying out simple to complex tasks such as producing texts and videos, speaking, conversing, reviewing written texts and other language activities, these computer systems have gained acceptance and popularity. Consequently, it has been used by people from several social segments, but in many situations without critical or discursive awareness. Because of this, many debates have been raised in education due to the impact on teaching, learning, teaching work, issues involving authorship, creativity, development of critical consciousness, dissemination of prejudices, mastery of technologies, comprehension of the languages uses and possible multimodal transpositions.
Regarding language teaching, it is important to reflect on the role of the language professional, on aspects linked to language with regard to the actions of intertextuality and dialogism that can be established in the generative space of the GAI, on the enunciative questions, on the subjectivities of the author and speech. Considering the relevance of this discussion today, we invite authors to submit articles that deal with these and other aspects related to the issue of GAI systems in the relationship with humans and their natural language, as well as on the role and agency of language professional in this new era of information and/or with linguistic education, in interfaces with multimodality and digital technology with the aim of providing a more comprehensive view of the challenges and potential offered by the increasingly widespread use of algorithmic technologies in the field of language.
