Digital literacy in English language teaching

In the context of English language teaching, the influence of digital technologies is undeniable, transforming both language and communication. Digital literacy emerges as a key element in this evolution. In this scenario, the aim of this article is to present a bibliographic review of the concept of digital literacy to reflect on its implications for English language teaching and learning. The research was conducted in 2022, focusing on the most recent publications available in full text in the Web of Science database, accessed through the CAPES Portal, thus limiting itself to articles published between 2017 and 2021. The search resulted in 10 articles on the topic. The time frame was defined to address contemporary studies that dialogue with the most current advances in the field. The studies reveal that digital literacy can be an important tool for motivating students and enhancing various of their skills. It is concluded that digital literacy is essential for preparing students for an increasingly globalized and connected world.
