Tech-driven advances in audiovisual translation: developing a cloud-based English-Arabic subtitle corpus for training and practice

Resumo

Este estudo apresenta uma nova nuvem de legendas em inglês-árabe baseada no SDL Trados. O corpus compilado é composto por arquivos de legendas extraídos da Netflix, com filmes em língua inglesa bem avaliados e premiados, e tem como objetivo oferecer um recurso bilíngue abrangente para legendistas e formadores na área de tradução. O estudo investiga o efeito do uso desse corpus na nuvem sobre a produtividade e a precisão de tradutores e legendistas. Foi realizada uma análise comparativa entre tradutores que utilizaram o corpus compilado no SDL Trados e aqueles que se basearam apenas em métodos tradicionais de tradução. Os resultados indicam que os usuários do corpus demonstraram tempos de tradução significativamente mais rápidos, maior consistência terminológica e melhor qualidade geral. Além disso, estudantes de tradução e tradutores profissionais que participaram das sessões de treinamento relataram que a interface era de fácil utilização e o corpus altamente benéfico para lidar com terminologia específica de gêneros. A análise dos dados também mostrou que mais de 60\% dos termos presentes nas traduções finais correspondiam às entradas do corpus compilado. O estudo conclui que o corpus na nuvem pode servir como uma ferramenta educacional e profissional valiosa em programas de formação em tradução audiovisual.
