Abstract

This paper investigates the use of General Artificial Intelligence in text production by university students, with a focus on the context of distance education, since this scenario has been a challenge for maintaining the quality of learning. To this end, an analysis was carried out, based on Theory of Text Linguistics, of academic reviews written in a distance learning curricular course. The results showed similarities among the texts, which were classified into two categories: “repetition of words” and “syntactic linking and fixed combinations”, useful for identifying texts assisted by IAG. The conclusion is that although without a detailed analysis they could be considered unpublished, texts generated under these conditions have recurring structures that often function as formulas emptied of meaning, thus constituting productions that are far removed from the formative objectives related to the development of authorship and critical reflection in university students.
