Abstract

The present article is based upon the rhetorical analysis from Johann Sebastian Bach’s Largo of Concert n. 5 F minor, BWV 1056. First, a review of the rhetorical principles and how they convey themselves to the music is introduced. Next, it is presented an analysis of the mentioned movement from the discussion already exposed. The analytical exercise exemplifies how the rhetorical principles are related to the Baroque period music.

Pablo Alberto Lanzoni , Federal University of the Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS) (Brazil)

Master's student in Communication and Information at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul,
where he researches the approximations between the cinematographic discourse and the musical discourse. He has a degree in Music - Choral Conducting (2008) from the same university. Since 2011, he is a music teacher at the Instituto Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - Porto Alegre campus. He has performed in different choirs and orchestras.
