Abstract

This paper discusses how part of Brazilian group Clube da Esquina’s musical production incorporated and redefined the mythical imaginary of mineiridade. This notion translates a romantic perspective, besides being a cultural resistance expression against a coercive and repressive modus operandi imposed, in Brazil, in the context of military dictatorship. The analyses focus on Clube da Esquina songs of the 1960’s, the first decade in which the mineiro group was formed.
