Just before he passed away, in the mid-1960s, my great-grandfather gifted me the collection of records he kept in the upper floor, which was already uninhabited, of the beautiful building of Farmácia Palombini in Antônio Prado. There, among Italian operas (where his niece, Vittoria Palombini, shone) and the metallic binarisms of his Greek wife, I found "Pega na chaleira" or "Gargalhada" by Eduardo das Neves, a 1909 record from Casa Edison, in Rio de Janeiro.
