a method for reflecting on medical practice at a time of pandemic

The Multidisciplinary Institute of Health of the Federal University of Bahia (IMS-UFBA) was inaugurated in 2016, based on a Political Pedagogical Project that aims to form generalist, humanist, critical and reflective doctors. In this context, the academic portfolio stands out as a means of serving as an assessment tool for professors, as well as enabling students to reflect on their achievements. This experience report aims to discuss the use of online portfolios as a valuable tool in the teaching-learning process during the undergraduate in Medicine in the context of the pandemic. The report in question was based on six portfolios written during the practical section of the curricular component entitled Elderly: Clinical, Pathophysiological and Therapeutic Aspects of Prevalent Diseases. This component included clinical consultations focusing on the health of the elderly, as well as home visits, in which the Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) was applied. As this was a semester set in the context of the covid-19 pandemic, the perception of health was much discussed, since the problems were not restricted to physical aspects, but also mental ones, especially regarding the elderly population, in such a scenario of broken interpersonal relationships. Furthermore, during their academic training, doctors tend to work intensively on theoretical and practical knowledge, although it is not usual to include biopsychosocial awareness in this proposal. However, with the covid-19 pandemic, this necessity has worsened and, with the help of the academic portfolio, it has been possible to reflect on the professional profile of the doctors we are preparing for the future.
