The social representations in the Urban Politics discipline
a report of codocence experience in East Timor

This article intends to present an experience report in co-teaching at the National University of Timor Lorosa'e during my participation in the Program of Teaching Qualification and Teaching of Portuguese Language, international cooperation between Brazil and Timor-Leste. As co-teaching in the discipline Urban Politics, I tried to structure activities that worked on aspects of the student's place – Díli (capital of the country) –, addressing the theme Urbanization. Starting from the theory of social representations, I tried to understand what this city represents for the students who reside in it or just study there, and in what way the existing process of urbanization influences the understanding of that place. Therefore, I worked together with the student's perspective, opposing a decontextualized approach that only reproduces knowledge in a systematized, general and fixed way. With this, I have tried to contribute to a teaching-learning process that helps in the formation of citizens who critically problematize their place.
