The objective of this study was to map international publications on the educational use of open data in higher and basic education between 2013 and 2023. A quantitative-qualitative approach was adopted, analyzing 58 articles obtained from sources such as the Directory of Open Access Journals, Google Scholar, Semantic Scholar, ResearchGate, and Connected Papers. Inclusion criteria considered the period, educational context, and English language. Quantitative analysis focused on the volume of publications, areas of knowledge, and geographic location, while qualitative analysis explored the challenges and potential of integrating open data into education. The results revealed a higher concentration of publications in Europe (43 articles) and in the fields of Exact and Earth Sciences, particularly in Computer Science. A modest academic production was observed, with 41 articles in higher education and 17 in basic education, highlighting the need for further studies on the subject. The main potential includes the development of analytical and critical thinking skills, while the challenges involve issues of accessibility, data reliability, and pedagogical suitability. It is concluded that, although open data holds great pedagogical potential, its effective application requires support policies, teacher training, and adequate tools for the educational context, aiming for broader and more effective integration into the school curriculum.
