Abstract

The Assessment Scale for Group Music Therapy for Chemical Dependency (MTDQ) is a self-report test, consisting of 20 items that assess the benefits perceived by adult patients with chemical dependency participating in group music therapy sessions and has evidence of content validity (Pedrosa; Garcia; Loureiro, 2023). This study aimed to evaluate the internal structure and reliability of the MTDQ. Through confirmatory factor analysis, three models were tested: unidimensional, two correlated factors and bifactorial. The results demonstrate the adequacy of the bifactorial structure, composed of two specific factors (cognitive processes and behavioral processes) and a general factor. Evidence of the structural validity of this study provides initial evidence that the MTDQ is an appropriate instrument to measure aspects of the benefits perceived by patientswith chemical dependence on music therapy.

Frederico Pedrosa, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Faculty member of the Undergraduate Music program with a focus on Music Therapy at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG). Holds a Doctorate in Music from UFMG (2023), a Master's degree in Music from the Federal University of Paraná (2018), and a Bachelor's Music Therapy degree from the Faculty of Arts of Paraná (2010). Engages in research in the fields of music therapy, substance addiction, mental health, and Brazilian popular culture.

Frederio Garcia, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Frederico Garcia is an associate professor in the Department of Mental Health at the Faculty of Medicine of the Federal University of Minas Gerais. He is a CNPq level 2 research fellow and leads the VHRC Vulnerability and Health Research Center and coordinates the Drug Reference Center (DRC). He studied his doctorate in Cellular and Molecular Biology at the University of Rouen, France. He was a 2013 World Federation of Societies of Biological Psychiatry (WFSBP) Research Award Laureate.

Cristiano Mauro Assis Gomes, Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil

Psychologist, Doctor of Education, Postdoctoral researcher in Educational Psychology. Coordinator of the Laboratory for Cognitive Architecture Research (LAICO). Full Professor in the Department of Psychology, Permanent Professor in the Postgraduate Program in Psychology, Cognition, and Behavior, and the Postgraduate Program in Neuroscience at the Federal University of Minas Gerais.
