Abstract

This article examines the compositional process involved in developing the soundtrack for the short film “Partir”, which was presented with its visual component already finalized. It explores the musical creative process and its interaction with other auditory elements, including sound effects, foley, and dialogue. The study concludes with critical reflections on the practice of composing film scores and offers methodological suggestions for future audiovisual projects

Author Biography

  • Fabio Wanderley Janhan Sousa, Federal University of Pernambuco, Brazil

    He holds a PhD and a Master's degree in Sonology from the School of Music at UFMG, an MA in Music and Technology from the University of York, England, and degrees in Composition and a Music Education degree in Music from UFMG, as well as a Electronics Technician from CEFET-MG. He has worked professionally as a sound engineer since 2004 and as a composer since 2014, focusing on contemporary aesthetics, with emphasis on the production of electroacoustic works. He has academic contributions with publications in the proceedings of ANPPOM, AES Brasil and AES UK, Sysmus, Nas Nuvens, and in the journals Sonora, Opus, Permusi, Vortex and Hodie. He currently works as an adjunct professor in the area of music ​​theory and composition at the Department of Music at UFPE.
