O presente estudo procurou identificar o cenário atual das pesquisas que retratam o ensino e aprendizagem de ligação química. Revistas nacionais e internacionais foram escolhidas para análise. Os resultados mostraram uma tendência predominante na análise das concepções alternativas dos estudantes sobre ligação química. Além disso, vários autores apontaram diversas justificativas para essas concepções que envolveram questões relacionadas ao professor, aos livros-texto de química e a necessidade de elaboração de estratégias didáticas inovadoras e materiais alternativos para melhorar o entendimento de ligação química.
