The literature presents a wide set of challenges that are faced in the daily teaching career, but it lacks of evidence in contingency situations, such as the isolation caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. Thus, we sought to investigate the effects of social isolation on the difficulties faced by teachers in Accounting Sciences courses at public and private higher education institutions. For this purpose, a survey was applied to 30 teachers, and the raised difficulties were categorized based on the technique of content analysis, from the perspective of the teacher and the student. Among the findings, the difficulties related to the reduction of time were observed from the perspective of the teacher, and the lack of motivation stood out as one of the main problems in the students’ perception. As contributions, the adaptability of the professor in relation to the difficulties already faced before the pandemic was evident, as well as the implications that can contribute to the adoption of strategies to adapt the teaching process.
