Hospital accreditation and the aspects that hinder its implementation according to health care professionals working at a private hospital

This is a qualitative study aiming to analyze the difficulties in the process of hospital accreditation in the perspective of healthcare professionals working at a private hospital in Belo Horizonte. This research used semi-structured interviews with 31 health care professionals and the data was analyzed using content analysis. Results revealed that the aspects hindering the implementation of hospital accreditation were the lack of quality system maintenance throughout the year as well as the poor participation of some health care professionals in the process. According to the professionals interviewed such difficulties can disrupt the whole practice and consequently affect the quality of service provided.
