Abstract

Trying to elucidate the social determinants of child hospital readmissions, we have carried this project with the objectives: a) to identify the factors related to living conditions and to the health services that contribute to the readmission, b) to determine the parents' understanding of the health/illness process of the readmitting child and c) to highlight the dialectics contradictions between the life and health conditions and the parents' representation on their child readmission. The results highlight the social determinants that relate to child readmission and the contradictions between their living conditions and the parents' representation about their child readmission observed in the interviews.
