Review of the film I’m Ugly But Trendy, by Denise Garcia, on women in funk carioca, available from the DVD rental market in Brazil.

  • Carlos Palombini , Federal University of Minas Gerais

    Carlos Palombini is an assistant professor of Musicology at the School of Music of UFMG, where he co-edits the Música Editada series (UFMG Press) and coordinates the Sound Production Laboratory. His research focuses on the text of Pierre Schaeffer and carioca funk parties. His works have appeared in the journals Music and Letters (OUP), Computer Music Journal (MIT Press), Organised Sound (CUP), Leonardo (MIT Press), Leonardo Music Journal (MIT Press), Echo (UCLA), Synteesi (Finnish Society of Semiotics), Electronic Musicological Review (UFPR), Per musi (UFMG), Anthropológicas (UFPE), Em pauta (UFRGS), etc. He is a researcher for CNPq.
