Interview conducted with professor emeritus at Unicamp Carlos Rodrigues Brandão about Paulo Freire's contribution to thinking about higher education and the role of the university today. The tribute to Paulo Freire, in this year of his centenary, constitutes a special section of the Revista Docência do Ensino Superior. This interview was conducted in June 2021, through a virtual conference, following a semi-structured questionnaire with seven questions. Carlos Rodrigues Brandão describes his trajectory as well as his relevant participation in social movements, and highlights Paulo Freire's contribution to higher education. The professor also highlights advances in higher education, the scenario experienced today and words of hope for us to keep on fighting!
