Abstract

The purpose of this article is to highlight the functionalities of online corpora such as concordancers, in particular the Reverso Context Dictionary. Through this exploratory study, we seek to know the limits of this online contextual dictionary from Arabic to French by analyzing the translation in the context of Arabic adages translated into French. It also aims to highlight the notion of virtual collaboration proposed within the framework of the Reverso Context collaborative dictionary. The study also made it possible to describe the services and functionalities offered online by this dictionary as well as its limitations. Through the experimentation of the translation of adages and proverbs from Arabic into French, we were able to deduce that the Reverso Context contextual dictionary has translation limits regarding Arabic-French combinations. These limits are lexical, semantic, phrasal and rhetorical.
