educaçãoAbstract
The colonization of Brazils inland went as far as the 19th century. At the time that time that the colonization of the interior of Minas Gerais took place, the Church developed missionary actives at the Itambacuri Indian Center (found in 1873), whose objectives were indians conversion and civilization. From the beginning of colonization, the mission to Christian and to civilize the Indians - who prevented the occupation and the economic exploration of the lands - was always the task of members of the church.
