Abstract

Nothing like "academic essays." The reader will find, in this book, "essays" in the most musical sense of the term, from a musical practice perspective. There are four experienced perspectives, quite experienced, that gaze upon us in Essays: Perspectives on Brazilian Choral Music, sold for R$ 29.00 on the website www.oficinacoral.org.br. Three conductors and one composer. Master and Doctor Carlos Alberto Figueiredo, Professor of Choral Conducting and Musical Analysis at UNIRIO, celebrates 30 years of career as a choral conductor and more than twenty as a Professor of Choral Singing, having recorded four CDs with the Pro-arte Chamber Choir. Eclectic, Elza Lakschevitz completed her postgraduate studies at UFRJ in composition, conducting, piano, and organ, coordinated the Villa-Lobos Project at FUNARTE, and received dedications in works by Ronaldo Miranda, Edino Krieger, Ernani Aguiar, and Vieira Brandão. Let’s enumerate the activities of the multifaceted Nestor de Hollanda Cavalcanti: researcher, writer, archivist, musical director, record producer, director of musical collections, editor, arranger, and... phew, we made it!, composer of over 300 works for various ensembles. Samuel Kerr, who completes the quartet, is a Professor of Choral Singing at UNESP, an award-winning Director of the Municipal School of Music of São Paulo, and conductor of various choral and symphonic groups, including the São Paulo Municipal Youth Symphony and the Paulistano Choir.
