This editorial presents volume 15 of Revista Docência do Ensino Superior, a journal in the field of education, which, in 2025, highlighted the presence of artificial intelligence in teaching and learning processes in its special section. With the significant number of artificial intelligence tools and their rapid popularization since 2022, impacts have been observed in a wide range of areas, especially in education. Currently, large language models have answers to a wide variety of questions, but in practice, what tools can be adopted in teaching? This is a question that educators want to answer, but it is still under construction, given that a balance must be found for its use. In the meantime, it is important to emphasize that the focus should remain on the essential teaching-learning processes for a solid and in-depth education, allowing students and teachers to apply their knowledge appropriately, ethically, and responsibly to different technological tools.
