This work brings a reflection on the effects of the development of the quality paradigm in the configuration of the ways of thinking about administration and evaluation in the educational field. Multiplying quality control and continuous improvement offices, which, rather than promoting process quality, are concerned with improving the "quality" bureaucratic indicators that they themselves have built with ruler and square. These reflections are also from the experience of the author as Director of the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences of the University of Porto Higher Education in Portugal. Alongside this, we discuss the exercise of the functions of direction seeking to highlight the possibility of developing dynamics tendentially alternative to the dominant logics.
