Abstract

Study on the historical, analytical and performance practice aspects of the Concerto N.1 for Double Bass and Orchestra by German composer Franz Anton Hoffmeister, a leading figure of the classic Vienna. It deals with the context of the writing for the Viennese violone (or Viennese double bass) and its third-fourth tuning and some of Hoffmeister´s compositional traits found in other of his works. It discusses aspects of the manuscript, of the 1966 edition and the 2002 edition.
