Electing two publications dedicated to think about the attacks on visual art exhibitions in Brazil, in 2017, this text discusses the readings produced in the immediate sequence of the events, both by art criticism and cultural mediation. Thus, the different dispositions underlying the writings of critical extraction, on the one hand, and mediative bias, on the other, are asked. By prioritizing the outcome of the controversies proposed by the latter one, the present analysis makes use of "counterpublic" and "cultural wars" notions, with a view to producing translations and the political treatment of the phenomenon, seeking to characterize the moralizing subjectivities, based on Christian and family values.
