Análise dos condicionantes sociais da evasão e retenção em cursos de graduação em Física à luz da sociologia de Bourdieu
Abstract
Este artigo se apropria da sociologia da educação de Pierre Bourdieu (1930-2002) como ferramenta para a interpretação dos fenômenos evasão e retenção nos cursos de graduação em Física de uma universidade brasileira. Realizou-se uma análise de contingencia e sobrevivência dos registros discentes com o objetivo de avaliar a existência de relações estatisticamente significativas entre evasão e retenção, por um lado, e variáveis sócio-econômicas, por outro. Os resultados indicam que: (1) estudantes de diferentes posições sociais (em matéria de capitais econômico e cultural), ao entrar no curso de Física, têm aproximadamente as mesmas chances de obter diploma; (2) estudantes que obtêm diploma ficam retidos aproximadamente por tanto mais tempo quanto pior é sua posição social. Tais resultados foram discutidos e interpretados à luz da sociologia de Bourdieu de maneira a produzir novas questões de pesquisa.
