Abstract

This paper, Part 2 of the same study, presents the results of the experiment "Sensation of continuity of a musical excerpt" (CHAIB et. al. 2013) analyzed using the statistical technique Factor Analysis of Correspondences (FAC). The main objective of this analysis is to look through indexes, the influence of gesture in conveying sensations of continuity, suspension and conclusion on the performance on percussion. Once achieved the goal will be possible to generalize the results in performances conducted on the same lines presented in the experiment.

Author Biographies

Fernando Chaib, University of Minas Gerais (Brazil)

Fernando Chaib is Doctor and Master in Music/Performance by the Department of Communication and Art of the University of Aveiro (Portugal) and graduated in percussion by UNESP. He has won awards as soloist and chamber musician in countries such as Italy, Portugal and Brazil. He has been performing in the Asian, European and American continents. He has articles in the main periodicals specializing in music in Brazil and in congresses abroad. He is currently a professor at the Federal Institute of Goiás, where he coordinates the Center of Excellence for Teaching, Research and Performance in Percussion - NΞP³/IFG (which integrates the Center of Excellence for Teaching, Research and Performance in Percussion - CΞP³).

Homero Chaib Filho, Federal Institute of Education, Science and Technology, Goiânia, GO

Homero Chaib Filho has a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingenieros Agrónomos de la Universidad de Madrid (Spain), and is a retired researcher from EMBRAPA. He has presented papers at conferences in Europe, Asia and America. He has national and international publications.

João Catalão, SIxtrum / University of Montreal, Canadá

João Catalão is Doctor in Music/Performance by the University of Montreal (Canada), having specialized at the Conservatory of Strasbourg (France) and graduated at UFSM. He is a member of the percussion groups KT-Z (Brazil) and Sixtrum (Canada). He plays in countries in the European and American continent.
